Hostels are only for younger travelers

Hostels are for younger travelers only.

Hostelworld's Rosenberger admits that "millennial travelers aged 18-34 are creating a boom in the hostel industry, but hosteling is really for everyone." At HI USA, the demographic target is also 18-30-year-olds, but "our hostels are open to anyone who wants this kind of travel experience," Trimboli says. HI USA membership is free for anyone under the age of 18, $28 per year for adults, and $18 per annum for seniors 55 and over. That gives you access to 50 U.S. hostels and more than 4,000 hostels around the world. Nightly rates differ, depending on the accommodation, but a single bed in a 4-bed dormitory space in CloudHostels starts at $55 a summer night, and $145 a shared bath in a private house. At the Yves Robert hostel in Paris, costs are much lower, running $33.65 per bed, per night for shared accommodation, while the Berlin Youth Hostel International demands $27 a night for single beds in a dormitory. Both these hostels have Wi-Fi and their rate includes breakfast. They can offer an inexpensive way to live in otherwise expensive places for any traveler looking at their budget, regardless of age.

"To have this welcoming group at your disposal is particularly enticing for solo travelers, covering all the various ages, incomes and backgrounds," says HI USA's Trimboli. "By promoting contact and communication with guests who are different from yourself, our hostels are about building acceptance, so everyone is always welcome."
